Los Toros de Oro 2008 Meeting

I have to get ready for our first investment club meeting of the year. Whenever we take a month or two off, it's hard to get back into the swing of things. Our stock portfolio has taken a beating these past two months. Seems we lost most of what we gained. Not sure if that's good or bad. I guess it could be worse since we could be losing more than what we have gained.

I have to make sure to get copies of the S&P off our broker's site to hand out to everyone to study before the meeting. Walgreen's could be a buy or is the price decline a sign of things to come. Starbucks is way down. That was the darling of our portfolio for the longest time. Have people really stopped buying their daily lattes and switching to McDonald's for coffee. Or has Dunk-in Donuts beat everyone out? So many things to discuss.

The bigger question being should we order Chinese or pizza for the meeting?

Don't Have a 401K?

You don't have a 401 K available to you to join. Don't let that stop from investing in the stock market. One way to learn, make money and have fun is to create an Investment Club.

What's an Investment Club? It's a small group of people who come together to learn and help each other become investors in the stock market. They hold meetings where they pool their investment dollars and share information about the market. They then make decisions about which stocks to buy.

It's a fun environment in which to learn as a group and share levels of experience. And there are two ways to do it. You can have the group pool their money into an investment fund or they can invest individually, but meet collectively. It's a way to get your feet wet and make small amounts of money grow into sizable portfolios.
